Airbnb make Dracula’s castle available to guests for one night only this Halloween.

Have you ever wanted the opportunity to sleep in Dracula’s castle for Halloween? Well, Airbnb have made this possible for the winner of their global contest, where they will send two guests to stay in the reported inspiration for Dracula’s castle – Bran Castle in Transylvania.

The guests will be hosted by Dacre Stoker, the great nephew of the author of the Dracula novel, who, according to Airbnb, is “a well-respected vampire expert and passionate advocate of his great uncle’s novel”. After a horse-drawn carriage ride and a candlelit “blood-enriching meal” guests can expect to sleep in red-trimmed velvet coffins, like Dracula himself; this will be the first time since 1948 that the fifteenth-century fortress has had people sleep there.

To enter, hopefuls must use their “vampiric wit” to imagine what they would say if they came “face-to-fang” with Count Dracula. If they are chosen, they will have to agree to certain rules which ban any garlic or “garlic-scented items” from the residence, as well as silver jewellery and holy symbols. It is also recommended that guests close all curtains, and they are warned that “the count is not a fan of mirror selfies”.

This follows on from last Halloween, where Airbnb hosted guests in Paris’ subterranean catacombs – also referred to as the ‘Empire of the Dead’.
