The stunt was filmed for his new television show, The Incredible Mr. Goodwin which starts on Watch this Thursday 7th March at 9pm.
Crowds were tense as the professional danger man struggled to release himself from the burning rope positioned more than 200 feet in the air as, with seconds to spare, the flames appeared to engulf Mr Goodwin’s jacket.
Just as things were heating up on the South Bank, the escapologist threw his jacket to the ground to rounds of applause from stunned onlookers.
Goodwin, born and raised in Pembrokeshire, South Wales, has been described as a modern-day superhero, somewhere between Harry Houdini and Superman.
Over several years working as a professional danger man, the thirty-two year-old has travelled the world in order to place himself in the most extreme and life-threatening situations.
Jonathan Goodwin said, “Danger is a part of my profession and the adrenaline I get from each stunt I do drives me on to the next. Pushing the limits is exciting and I hope I have left the crowd with a memorable experience.”
You can see what other extraordinary situations he gets into during the new five-part series on Watch.
In a nail biting first episode, astonished onlookers watch as the fearless Mr Goodwin climbs up one of London’s tallest buildings – unaided.
He performs a death-defying stunt underneath a super-sized SUV, which puts him within inches of the rushing road surface and fast-spinning wheels, plus manages to trigger a bear trap without losing an arm.
