Italy’s famous fashion house has modelled its latest heels on American cars of the 50s. Italians love cars and fashion and Prada is taking that relationship to the next level.
The fashion house’s 2012 spring collection has a range of high heels and stilettos styled on the designs of classic 1950s American cars. The heels are shaped as spoilers, wings and chrome-lined tail lights of the classics and there are some hot-rod versions with flames that lick up the ankle of the person wearing them.
The scene is sketched out in Prada’s press release: “Bathed in sunlight. Fueled by optimism. Girls and cars stop and stare at the future in this Technicolor mise-en-scéne of desire.” Right.
