Julia Bradbury Returns To Watchdog.
Watchdog presenter Julia Bradbury is to return to the BBC ONE consumer programme after being cleared by police of any involvement in an alleged air miles fraud.
Bradbury, who also fronts Countryfile and BBC2’s Railway Walks, voluntarily stepped down from the show eight weeks ago after irregularities were found in her Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account.
In February this year Bradbury issued a statement which said; “I understand that my name appears on a list that includes several Virgin passengers with discrepancies in their frequent flyer statements. I have done nothing wrong and will of course willingly cooperate with any enquiries.”
After the television presenter provided a witness statement to Sussex police last week, it was confirmed that she is not a suspect in the ongoing investigation. She will return as presenter of Watchdog alongside Nicky Campbell on Monday.
Bradbury said: “In February I voluntarily stepped down from my presenting duties on BBC1’s Watchdog to protect a programme whose cause I feel passionately about. I have since provided a witness statement to the police in relation to their internal fraud investigation at Virgin Atlantic. The investigating officer wanted to talk to me as victim of fraudulent activity on my frequent flyer account and has confirmed that I am not a suspect. Virgin Atlantic has confirmed that the irregularities on my Flying Club account have been settled and have opened a new customer account for me. The last eight weeks have been extremely stressful and upsetting for me and my family. With considerable help and support I have worked tirelessly to get to the bottom of a very complex situation.”
Bradbury, who has fronted Watchdog since 2005, is one of the busiest presenters on British television.
As well as Watchdog, Railway Walks and the new run of Countryfile, which has been moved to a new peak-time Sunday night BBC1 slot, she also fronts BBC3’s Kill it, Cook It, Eat It.
